NMCSA Officers research Nine Mile Canyon Rodeo Cowboys Pictured are Jailyn Thornton, Lorena Thornton, Alene Dalton
Pictured are three board members of the Nine Mile Canyon Settlers Association. Alene Dalton currently serves as Administrative Assistant and assistant to the editor of the NMCSA’s historic journal. Lorena Thornton is a researcher for NMCSA. She has used mail and personal visits to gather historical information. Jailyn Thornton is the advisor for governing strategies of the Association. This issue Number Four finishes our first Volume of the Settler’s Journals. We are thrilled with the pictures we could use and things we have learned about the impressive Whitmore family. We were not able to contact any family members and gathered our information from the histories recorded and filed in the DUP library. We are grateful to research assistants who helped us at the Pioneer Museum library. Our next issue Volume Two, Number One will feature the Frank Alger homestead and Cow Canyon settlers. We welcome your stories and pictures, past or present. The people who settled the canyon are now gone. Let’s preserve their histories and share your present canyon experiences , for all who treasure the canyon. We extend grateful appreciation to Francis Bowen and Leland Kent Wimmer for their contributions. The more articles we get the happier we are! Membership to NCMSA is $20.00 a year for your family.
